San Francisco’s Museum of African Diaspora will officially open on Saturday, December 3, 2005. The previous Saturday was the first day the public could view the museum, and thousands toured the interactive multimedia displays and modern art. MoAD is designed to be accessible to all ages, races and ethnicities. The goal of the museum‘s creators is for everyone to see the spirit of themselves here, and a mosaic of sepia-toned photographs that form, from a distance, the face of a girl, expresses this.

“The Museum of the African Diaspora connects all people through the celebration and exploration of the art, culture and history of the African Diaspora.  MoAD promotes, explores, and appreciates the contributions people of African descent have made across the globe.”
