O’Brien’s, whose family has deep roots in Bayview Hunters Point, tells
the story of the neighborhood through more than 200 vintage photographs
collected from local families and history-minded organizations. The
book documents the dramatic transformation that has taken place since
the early days when cows were herded up Third Street, to the days of
the naval shipyard that once dominated the area (and is now being
redeveloped) to the building of the Third Street light rail extension
